Is It Possible To Control Your Whole Life Is There A Way To Know How
Is it possible to control your whole life? Is there a way to know how your life will turn out before it happens? In the play of "Death of the Salesman" Willy loman faces these questions. Willy Loman was a simple man who was a salesman. Since Willy thought that his life was so simple he thought that he could control everything to it. Willy Loman thought that he could control the aspect of his job, he thought he could control how successful his kids were going to be in business and most of all the thought he could control how people had felt about him. In a way Willy Loman was living in his own little world were he had control when in fact his life had control over him. As this is seen Willy Loman doesn't realize that life is unpredictable you cant control every detail of were you work, what happens to your life nor can you control how people feel about you. Willy Loman feels that he has control over were he works. He feels that if he wants to make his life a little easier he can go to his boss and ask him to move him from working in New England to New York. As Willy leaves his house for Howard's (Willy's boss) office he says to his wife Linda "I'm gonna knock Howard for look, kid Ill get an advance and Ill come home with a New England job" (74). Willy Loman feels that he is in charge of his life. He thinks that since he worked for a sales company for a long time he can get what he wants. In fact, Willy Loman has no control over whether he will get the job in New York. When Willy goes to Howard Willy felt very confident that he will come back with the job after all he has worked with this company for a long time. As Willy had started talking to Howard the unexpected is said by his boss "I appreciat that Willy but there just is not a sport for you. If I had a sport for you would slam you in" (122). Not only didn't Willy get the New York j ob but he had lost his old job to. As this is said one of the critics remarks to this event by saying "The coldness of his former boss' son ? the bills, the car, the tinkering around the house. And most of it all: the illusions by which he has lived ? opportunities missed, wrong formulas for success, fatal misconceptions about his place in the scheme of things" (Atkinson 23). Willy sometimes lives in flashbacks of his life he sees the right path to a better life, he sees the changes he is going to do or are going to happen but when he goes back to the present he doesn't see the changes happen. An example is the flashback of when Willy's brother comes to visit. Ben is a self-made rich man and he offers willy a chance of a lifetime to work in Alaska. Willy decides not to as he says " We'll do it here, Ben you hear me? Were going to do it here!" The reason that Willy decided not to go with Ben was because he felt he was "building something with the firm" (85). As Willy goes to the present he realizes that that business has failed him and he really was not building anything. Another flashback seen that Willy goes back to is when Bernard comes over to Biff's house and tells him that he forgot to come over and study. When disappointed Bernard was leaving Willy had said "Bernard can get the marks in school, y'understand, but your going to be 5 times ahead of him in the business world" (33). What Willly meant by that was even though Bernares was smarter then his sons, they were going to be ahead in the business world. He was a firm believer in that its not what you know its who you know and how well you are liked and Willy had thought that his son's had the type of look to be liked unlike Bernard.

Earth Day Essay
Earth Day Essay Earth Day Essay As people living on a planet to ourselves, working, producing products, expanding as a society whether it be new houses, buildings, jobs, food places and etc. When we first had all of these new things we didnââ¬â¢t think about the affects they would have on our earth. Considering this, who would have thought that those big buildings that constantly had smoke pouring out of them that also made the fancy cars, new dishwashers, T.V.ââ¬â¢s, and microwaves could also be bad for us? It was said that the air was so dirty sometimes that tourists couldnââ¬â¢t see the city below from the Empire State building observation deck. It was then brought to Richard Nixonââ¬â¢s attention something had to be done. He then created the Environmental Protection Agency that would enforce laws that would protect public health and the environments as well. This set of laws then lead to the Clean Air act, a law that was designed to reduce air pollution. At the time cars would use lead gasoline, whi ch contained lead that could be a brain stunt in development. As I said before not everyone was thinking about the effects these new products would bring. As always though, someone was. Being the year 2014 and seeing how far we have come, could you imagine being the person who started Earth Day. The founder Gaylord Nelson, first had the idea after the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbra. They figured if they could get enough of the publicââ¬â¢s attention something could be done. And that is exactly what happened. On April 22nd 1970, 20 million people participated in the first ever Earth Day. The movement received what was seemed to be rare and unique support from people of every different background. Rich, poor, farmers, city slickers, labor leaders, even democratic and republicans. The first Earth Day was such a success that when the year 1990 came around environmental leaders were asking for another. The next Earth Day went global. This time they were 200 million people fro m 141 countries. The earth day of 1990 the main focus was have the importance of recycling made known to anyone and everyone. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Now to this day we are still fighting for a cleaner earth. The average person generates about 4.5 pounds of trash every day, which makes about 1.5 tons of solid waste per year. It is also estimated that 75% of solid waste is recyclable while only about 30% is recycled. Although that doesnââ¬â¢t seem like a lot there is still effort for a greener earth. With new recycled products such as paper and water bottles. The idea of using recycled products to make more of the same product is a sustainable and smart way to produce a product and although not every company knows that there are still many improvements from what was. Earth day 2014 consisted of over a billion people in 190 countries. This year their main

An Evaluation of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator
An Evaluation of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a psychological test that was originally designed in the early 1940s by a mother-daughter team of Isabel Myers and Katherine Briggs. Myers and Briggs developed their test in response to the calamity of World War II, because they believed the war was caused by the countries involved failing to understand each otherââ¬â¢s differences (Coe, 1992). The MBTI is designed to measure personality, and the basis for this test comes from the work of personality types as described by Carl Jungââ¬â¢s theory. All the information provided in this evaluation comes from form M of the MBTI. Purpose, Design and Format of the MBTI The purpose of the MBTI is to classify individuals on each of the four levels as identified in Jungââ¬â¢s theory, and then provide them with a description of their personality as a result of their test (Fleenor, 2001). On each of the four levels to identify a person there are two options on each level making a total of eight different possibilities that can be used to describe someoneââ¬â¢s personality. Those levels are: Extraversion v. Introversion, Sensing v. Intuition, Thinking v. Feeling, and Judging v. Perceiving. As defined for the MBTI Extraverts enjoy communication with others and thrive off that contact; while Introverts tend to not find any pleasure in their relationships and prefer to be alone. Sensors use their five senses to gather information about a scenario and see the present for what it is; in contrast people scoring high in Intuition like to look toward the future and the possibilities that could exist. Finally, Judgers use the information available and come to a decision quickly; whereas Perceivers tend to be procrastinators and are always waiting for more facts before deciding (Coe, 1992). It is important to note that while the MBTI places test takers in a category of having one trait or the other that people do display characteristics of all eight, but tend to display one aspect on each level more prominently. The degree to which a person varies on a particular attributed is explained upon completion of the test. The questions on the MBTI are also designed in such a way that it is impossible to fall in the exact middle of a particular trait, everyone will vary slightly one direction or another (Fleenor, 2001). This test is designed for the general population ages 14 and older, and there is not a specific group who is not eligible to take the MBTI. This is considered a weakness by many and will be covered later. There are 93 multiple choice items on the MBTI, and the questions are written at a seventh grade reading level to ensure comprehension of the questions (Fleenor, 2001). Each question is designed so that one question is measuring just one type of personality level for simple and accurate scoring. In defining the norms for this test a group of 3009 people were administered the MBTI all were adults from the United States and were 18 years and older. Th e specific demographics of the normative sample are not given, but the sample was lopsided towards females and Caucasians (Fleenor, 2001).

A Structural and Vocabulary Analysis of John Donnes The Flea Essay
A Structural and Vocabulary Analysis of John Donne's "The Flea" In his poem "The Flea", John Donne shows his mastery in creating a work in which the form and the vocabulary have deliberately overlapping significance. The poem can be analyzed for the prominence of "threes" that form layers of multiple meanings within its three stanzas. In each of the three stanzas, key words can be examined to show (through the use of the OED) how Donne brilliantly chose them because of the various connotations they had to his audience. Finally, each of the three stanzas contains completely different moods that reflect the speakerââ¬â¢s emotions as the situation changes. Upon knowing some of John Donneââ¬â¢s personal history, especially of his eventual high position in the church, it is no surprise that religious overtones embellish much of his erotic poetry. The Holy Trinity is the body created by three entities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. "The Flea" shows Donneââ¬â¢s obsession with this divine number and can be examined as a series of several "threes" beginning with the total number of stanzas in the poem: 3. Each stanza contains 9 lines, making the poem a series of 3 stanzas containing each a total of lines equaling 3-squared. As for the total number of lines, the poem contains 3-cubed, or 27. Each stanza contains the rhyme scheme AABBCCDDD. This is also a series of threes, containing 3 sets of rhyming couplets and ending in three lines rhyming DDD. The word "flea" is mentioned in all three stanzas of the poem. The OED had many entries for the word proving that Donne chose a word with its own trinity of multiple meanings, as a noun, an adjective, and a verb. First, it is a noun meaning the small, black, bloodsucking insect. This is ... ...ll of the speakerââ¬â¢s hopes are prematurely executed in the third stanza when the lady crushes the flea between her nails. This stanza is anticlimactic because the eager hopping around from argument to argument abruptly comes to a halt with one action. The speaker is rejected, and immediately retreats from his pursuit. His tone becomes scathing and the overall mood becomes like the purple blood that has stained the ladyââ¬â¢s nail: "a hue of mourning." The hopes of the speaker coil down from the high apex of hope that builds in the first two stanzas to an embarrassing low in the last stanza. In conclusion, the true beauty of Donneââ¬â¢s poetry comes through in the tireless search for connections, overlapping, and deeper meaning. As one searches for these meanings, the 27 lines of "The Flea" become a mysterious maze that has no completion and never takes one to a dead end. If I Were a Millionaire
IF I WERE A MILLIONAIRE Everyone have dreams and every dream is different with each others. Some of them want to be a teacher, and some of them want to be an astronaut, but for me, I have in interesting and marvelous dream. My dream is to become a millionaire. I already have so many plans in my mind if the dreams become true. One of them is to start a recording studio. I will hold an audition to those who want to be a singer in future. At the end of the audition, I will choose the best among them based on their talents to become one of my assets for my studio. Next step, I will hire the most trustable producer to create songs for my singer. In order to build my studioââ¬â¢s reputation, I will try to promote my studio to the people and the society by using the power of media. Such as, television, newspapers, radio, magazines and so on. Then I will launch the albums for my singer to get people interested and listen to my products. When the people interested to my studio, I will invite them especially any other recording company to join my business and co operate with them in order to make my business bigger and gain more profit. Other than that, I will also do some kind of charity towards other people who really need it. This is done purposely to help them reducing the burden in their lives. For example, recently, we had heard a lot of news regarding disaster that happen in many countries such as terrible flood, tsunami, earthquake and so on. These unlucky people lost their houses and properties. They suffered cold and sun heat everyday. How could we imagine that they will survive in this kind of situation? As for that, I will help and support them to continue their lives, such as providing them food, build a big hall in order to let them stay there temporary. Furthermore, I will also give scholarship to those who are in need including secondary and university students. I will support them until they have complete and success in their studies. I am willing to do so because I know the importance of education and I had been through this before. In order to achieve my dream, I am working hard and studying hard. I am also planning to start my business. Once I started my business, I will try all my best to make my dream come true.
